About Me
Sonette Bosch, a name. The person behind that name is a multi dimentional person with a personality that reminds one of an onion ... layer upon layer, but with each layer you will see something else, a new angle, a new level.
A Free Spirit that lives.
About Me ...
I was born with a natural artistic nature and started to create things long before I had any training. My first teacher concerning painting, was my elder sister, Estellè, who could color any picture into life with her Staedtler Coloring Pencils, giving it depth and light sparks where needed. She would patiently show me how to use color, light and darkness and to do shading.
Growing up on a farm, my only playmates was native and they introduced me to clay digging and how to make clay oxes and farm implements out of clay, grass straws and twigs. It was the beginning of my sculptures out of clay that my mother baked for me in her coal stove. I will varnish them after that and it made them durable for many years.
From there I had no training apart from the art lessons in Primary School where I quickly got bored with all the history. I wanted to create. My teacher, Miss Bird, realized I was ahead of my peers and would make use of me with every play, helping her with the decor designing and painting. Since then I can still paint large nature or town scenes, or whatever is needed on big rolled out background canvases and murals.
Only later, after finishing school and after been married for 6 years, I was able to attend private tutoring in different painting techniques using different materials and mediums. Fatija Marron was opening a new world for me with her wide artistic talent, creative nature and abilities. I learned about Silkscreen Printing that I could use with my graphic designing, touching up on drawing skills and then she introduced me to Watercolor painting which I had great success with and pottery, where a new love was born for wheel work.
From there I attended the Technical College in Rustenburg and studied Pottery. I felt they where moving to slow with the classes and techniques that I gave it up and the remainder that I needed to know I had taught myself out of books and the Library was my regular stop. I was taking out Arts and Crafts books like other would take out novels to read. I found more value in self study and tried out everything. From there my knowledge in a wide variety of arts and crafts.

I think if someone ask me, I could come up with some designs or any type of arty way of decorating or painting something. I love to play with all types of materials and to make gifts and decorations. In times that things went rough in my life, I would always fall back on my arts and crafts and it always inspired me to get out of negative thinking patterns, to create and to make some money to pull us through. I attended a few years various Craft Markets.
Because of my extended knowledge in various crafts, I started to give Multi Mixed Media classes every week, but because I incorporate some unique techniques, I called it Multi Mixed Media Extreme. I teach the various techniques and it gave my students a chance to explore arts and crafts and develop their own style. The media can vary from embossing to making use of discarded junk, to working with material similar to Tokreen, making wall hangings, making 3D art, making Sculptures. The use of my techniques are legion, it is only the mind that need to be freed. You can see photos of us at work HERE.
With that in mind, I also used my art classes as a way of training my students in Positive Phycologycal Health through ART. With that I not only help them working through issues but also motivates them to stay positive, no matter the odds and illnesses. As most of my students was working mothers that retired, due to old age or/and loss of a work due to BEE, they seemed a bit lost in their new roles as grandmothers staying home. Their way off doing been disrupted and some lost a spouse so they're left to cope with that and midlife crises.
